The taste is as smooth as the texture, and it avoids becoming too sweet as some Weizen sadly seems to be. There is a slightly more earthy aftertaste, yet mild. It is very drinkable, yet of course it remains a Hefeweizen and as such is on the heavier side. One of the interesting things about this beer is that you notice something different with each taste. The later parts of the sensation are almost citrus tinged, whereas the opening section is a well blended if not unique Weizen.

All in all, the question is really whether this beer is worth seeking out. It is certainly better than at least one of the nationally available heavyweights, and at the risk of being proven wrong by my own review at some point, I would class it as being ahead of Schoferhofer, on a par with Erdinger and Paulaner, but behind Franziskaner. This is certainly worth a look if you can find it without paying too much. When and where to drink?

While Weizen is naturally heavy, as mentioned, this has such a drinkable nature that you could even session it and move on into clubs with it. Bars, barbecues, beer gardens, wherever. The slightly fruity nature — a pleasant change from the cliched banana tones in many competitors — makes it surprisingly refreshing in a unique way.
